Creating an eye-catching CV, preparing for an interview and most importantly staying positive and motivated are all crucial.
Your CV
Your CV is the first opportunity to sell yourself to any prospective employer.
Companies receive hundreds of CV’s, so yours’ needs to stand out from the crowd.
A good CV will provide a taster to tempt someone to interview you and find out more, so it needs to be clear and concise.
Its not exhaustive, but here are a few Peach pointers:
The first page…
Should be headed up with your name, together with all of your personal details
Should include a strong personal profile, highlighting your skills and achievements
Pages Two & Three (no more please)…
Should highlight your employment history (list your most recent employer first) detailing your responsibilities and achievements
Detail your education and any interests or voluntary work last.
Overall Presentation
Keep it clean—avoid graphics, italics and boxes and use black ink and a consistent font size
Avoid jargon and abbreviations—this can be confusing and distracting
Use the past tense when appropriate
Good grammar and correct spelling are vital
Avoid repetition—make sure everything you detail has value
Ensure accuracy with your dates and qualifications – all companies will reference you to verify details given and check grades
